What's New ~ Freya Beer Interview, National Theatre Commission & Celebrating 100 Trees with Ecologi

Hello doves,

I hope everyone is having a happy, healthy and safe time. And if times are trying, I wish you all the love and strength you need, with at least a moment of joy or bliss each day.

It has been an exciting month with Astral Apparel. Festival Season has recommenced, some of you may know that I am in two bands- Nova Halo and Victor & The Bully. Nova Halo took a gorgeous trip to Alfriston in East Sussex for Faerie Festival, hosted and organised by the wonderful Matthew Callow. We had an amazing time reconnecting with friends and playing.

The day we got home from Faerie Fest, I visited the Royal Albert Hall for the first time, to see a former Astronomy lecturer of mine sing in Verdi's Requiem. We had free upgraded tickets which was awesome. I was so blown away by the architectural beauty, as well as the choirs and opera singers.

Victor & The Bully performed at Comic Con, I've always wanted to attend Comic Con and am shocked that I haven't yet in my life! It was wonderful, I accidentally drank a 'cheese flavoured' drink (the can design features the Pokémon Horsey- what was I to do?) and got to play my guitar with a firework on the end of it! I also released my first CD, AEROTROPOLIS on Monday 29th May, which is purchasable in the Emporium. Thank you so much to everyone who has ordered their copy :)

Back to design work, something quite incredible happened, which funnily enough did so not long after a conversation at a historic site I work at. A new staff member had joined the team about a month ago, and was asking about Astral Apparel. He asked whether I ever worked with the costume departments in London. I said no, that I hadn't made any attempts to pursue that, but would be open to it in the future.

Perhaps he had a connection and put a word in for me? Because oddly enough, I was contacted by the National Theatre for a commission a week or so ago, and am currently working on that now. Yesterday I had the joy of posting a sample for the colour matching.

I wasn't planning on saying anything until the event it has been ordered for takes place. But, a friend of mine pointed out to me that whatever follows is one thing... the commission in itself has happened! and that's quite amazing. I'm really honoured and will be giving my very best to the order as I always do, whoever is ordering.

I also did an interview with the amazing music artist and style icon Freya Beer, which will be published this Friday 2nd June <3 a fun, lighthearted style interview, with some dipping into what it's like to be an independent musician today.

And I am very happy to say that we have just achieved 100 trees with Ecologi! So thank you very, very much supporters. You can view the Astral Apparel 'Forest' here.

Have a wonderful June and till next time,

Nancy x
